Why can't we come out of our preconcieved notions?

Hey All,
today while travelling way to my office I met a guy from my hometown. He is working with a software multinational. When the cinversation just started I thought(looking onto his work profile) that he must be having a modern value system.
In my earlier writing I have strongly suggested that if our country has to mive forward we will have to bank on our moral values and I still stand by that. But the problem is that people actually don't understand the real value syatem of Indian Culture.
I couldn't make this thing understand to that silly fellow as he started shouting and screaming and also I think bus is not a proper venue to discuss "Value System".
Can someone tell me what has been the traditonal values of our culture. To the innocent persons let me tell you that Indian culture, the traditional one has always been free of concieved notions, materailistic and worldlly boundations ans also from prejudictions.
Sages and saints had gone out in search of the ultimate truth...life and God...and they were always free of their family restrictions. the thing that they respected most was their individuality and their starvation for knowledge.
Even in Ramayana lord Ram had left his hpme, palace and kingdoms to fulfil his goals i.e. to kill the devils, though Ram always knew that his father would die if he left home...But he did so...
Whenever we talk about Indian(Hindu) value system we only think of the morals such as Ram,the ideal son,but we miss to consider Bhakat Prahlad who actually worshiped God actually to make earth free of his father's destiny of sins(as mentioned in Purans).
Guys, here I invite comments from all of you..This is one of the hottest issues that we guys usually encounter with in our routine lives...plz post your comments onto this...

Shashank
